Participação como Keynote Speaker na “International Conference on Innovative Applied Energy” - IAPE 2019 - em Oxford, Inglaterra < VOLTAR

Diretora da DUX, Maria Andrea Triana, participou como Keynote Speaker na “International Conference on Innovative Applied Energy” em Oxford, Inglaterra.
A apresentação foi sobre “Sustainable Life Cycle Integrated Approach for Energy Efficiency Evaluation in Buildings” que coloca a importância de abordagens integradas que considerem aspectos de sustentabilidade e mudanças climáticas para avaliação do desempenho termoenergético nas edificações.

Keynote talk abstract:
There is a lack of methodologies that use integrated approaches for assessing energy use and thermal and energy performance of buildings. In Brazil, social housing is an important sector, whose expansion has been more characterized by quantity with lower initial cost, without giving special attention to the long useful life of the building. Energy efficiency measures are not very common in this sector because of higher initial investment costs. Considering about at least 50 years of useful life, there are several factors that influence the performance of buildings, including climate change, and these factors can significantly affect the relationship between the energy efficiency measures proposed in the projects. Also, the way that the building operates is important; in Brazil the use of natural ventilation is considered very relevant, although an expansion of consumption of environmental conditioning is being placed at the present time. A proposed evaluation method for the incorporation of energy efficiency measures, considering an integrated approach in the life cycle that contemplates indicators in the environmental, energy, economic and social aspects, as well as climate change is discussed for the evaluation of the thermal and energy performance of buildings. The importance of the use of thermal and energy simulation in the evaluation of the future performance and in the useful life of the building is also placed. Integrated assessments of the energy use of buildings give new indications of long-term impacts and benefits. Evaluation methodologies that consider the life cycle are important for the provision of performance indicators in buildings, and the context of the building life cycle brings different parameters that should be considered in the projects. For integrated assessments, more specific data is needed on the impacts of what is being build as well as a more comprehensive form of integration with the projects and their evaluation, which is discussed here. Approaches that include sustainability variables in the life cycle of buildings are raising interest in current research with some focused on energy consumption in buildings, especially residential. Sustainability indexes in the energy life cycle are important and are discussed here as a proposal that facilitates comparisons between different adaptation strategies. Integrated approaches to sustainability in the life cycle using computational simulation and focused on the thermal and energy performance of buildings can provide subsidies for reducing energy use in buildings. They can also consider long-term impacts and benefits and are important for a more holistic approach to energy use in buildings.
